Introducing ParlWork

The ParlWork web application provides parliamentarians and parliamentary staff with the information required to perform their work within the chambers of the Australian Parliament. In time access will also be extended to the general public, allowing greater insight into the parliamentary process.

Purpose-built for parliamentarians, the ParlWork application provides access to a consolidated view of live, real-time chamber business information, accessible from any device with a connection to the internet and a web browser. Stage 1 of the project provides access to information relating to:

  • the current item and upcoming items of discussion in the chamber, including motions, orders of the day, Bills and Bill-related material, and
  • the Senate’s Dynamic Red and the House of Representatives’ and Federation Chamber’s Live Minutes (the dynamic presentation of draft minutes of chamber proceedings for the day).

*Tip: The ParlWork application is recommended to be used when the Australian Parliament is in session.

Key Features

  • Access to key chamber information in fewer than four clicks;
  • Quick search and filter functions allow the user to find a notice, order or Bill;
  • notices, orders and Bills can be tagged as favourites for quick access later; and
  • Works on any internet enabled desktop, laptop, phone or tablet.

Setting up ParlWork on your device

ParlWork is a web application accessible from the internet and is adaptable to the size of your screen (visit parlwork.aph.gov.au) and therefore does not require special installation on your device. We do however recommend creating a shortcut on your homescreen for on-the-go quick access. This will allow the ParlWork icon on your homescreen to work in much the same way as a mobile native application. The instructions below outline how to create a shortcut on the most common devices and their default browser. If you are having difficulty installing a shortcut on your device, please refer to the feedback section below to contact us.

Setup a Windows or Apple computer

To install a ParlWork desktop shortcut on your Windows computer, please follow these steps:

  1. Visit parlwork.aph.gov.au from your preferred internet browser.
  2. Click, hold and drag the Parliament House logo in the web address bar onto your desktop (you may need to minimise screens in order to access your desktop)
